Privacy Policy
Last updated: [TODO: effective date]
b-seen takes your privacy seriously. We only ask for what we need, we keep it safe, and we never sell it. This page explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
A note on the law: b-seen is a small business and our annual turnover is currently under the A$3 million threshold, so we are not bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. We have written this policy to follow that good-practice standard anyway, because it is the right way to treat the people who get in touch with us.
This policy is run by [TODO: registered entity name] (ABN [TODO: ABN]), trading as b-seen, based in Smithfield NSW 2164.
What we collect
When you contact us through the form on this site, we collect:
- your name;
- your phone number and/or email address;
- your suburb or postcode (if you give it); and
- the free-text message you write to us.
When anyone visits the site, our host and content delivery network (CDN) also automatically record standard technical information in their server logs, including your IP address, your browser type and user-agent, the pages requested and the date and time. This is normal for any website and is used to serve the pages to you and to keep the site secure.
How we collect it
We collect the contact details above directly from you, when you choose to fill in and send the contact form. We do not buy lists or collect this information from anyone else. The technical/log information is collected automatically by our host as part of serving and protecting the website.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and have a conversation about your project;
- prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, deliver our services; and
- operate, secure and improve the website.
We do not use your contact details for marketing unless you have asked us to.
Who we share it with
We keep your information to ourselves as much as we can. To run the business, a small number of trusted service providers necessarily handle some of it:
- when you submit the contact form, your message is delivered to us by email through a third-party email/SMTP provider;
- this website runs on Cloudflare, which serves and secures the pages and processes the technical/log data described above; and
- some of our service-delivery work is AI-assisted — we are upfront about this on our How we build page, including what we will and will not put into those tools.
We do not sell your personal information, and we only share it where it is needed to do the work or where the law requires it.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the providers above operate outside Australia. That means your information may be processed or stored in the United States and other countries where Cloudflare, our email provider and our tools operate. We choose reputable providers, but once information is processed overseas it may be subject to the laws of those countries. If you would prefer to deal with us without using the online form, you can simply call or email us instead.
Cookies & analytics
This site does not use tracking cookies and does not run advertising trackers. We measure how the site is doing with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not fingerprint or identify individuals. Because of that, no cookie-consent banner is required under Australian law and we have chosen not to clutter the site with one.
Separately, some technical data (such as your IP address) is necessarily processed by our CDN to deliver the pages to you and to protect the site against attacks. That is a function of serving the website, not a marketing or tracking activity.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details only for as long as we reasonably need them — to answer you, and (if you become a client) for the life of the project and a sensible period afterwards for our records, tax and warranty purposes. Server/CDN logs are kept by our host for a limited period and then rotated out in the ordinary course. When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.
How we keep it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access — including using reputable providers, securing our accounts and devices, and limiting who can see your details (in practice, that is Vlad). No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we treat your information with care.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just email vlad@b-seen.net or call 0426 887 885 and we will help, usually within a few days.
If you have a privacy concern, please raise it with us first — we would genuinely like the chance to put it right. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our tools or the law change. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
